The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has announced that its operations have grown significantly in 2025 because to a major increase in corporate tax registrations, as well as ongoing growth in Value Added Tax (VAT) and Excise Tax registrations and service expansion. The Authority also improved its contact with taxable individuals through its innovative digital channels, and this was evident in the increased amount of transactions completed across all areas of its activities.
The FTA’s 2025 Annual Report, which is available on its website, outlines the organization’s accomplishments and operational outcomes in every area of business, along with the legislative, procedural, and technological tax advancements that occurred throughout the year. These policies are based on a clear understanding of the needs of all taxable persons and a commitment to fulfilling their aspirations through accelerated digital transformation and fortifying the foundations of a smart tax ecosystem. Additionally, it kept improving the effectiveness of oversight processes to help preserve tax equity and safeguard markets.
It also highlights FTA’s accomplishments in digital transformation and its broad efforts to increase the use of AI technologies in order to significantly improve operational effectiveness, service quality, transaction processing speed, and the execution of its various initiatives in this area. According to the report, overall tax receipts from excise and VAT taxes rose from Dhs41 billion in 2024 to Dhs46 billion in 2025. Approximately 1.7 million tourists requested VAT refunds, but more than 7,000 UAE citizens applied for VAT refunds for newly constructed homes. Furthermore, 289 store applications were filed to register for the computerized Tourist VAT Refund Scheme.
