Eid Al Fitr, the first long holiday of 2025, will be celebrated by UAE citizens with up to five days off. The break will be four or five days long, including the weekend, depending on when the Moon is viewed.
Based on astrological predictions of the Eid date, a five-day holiday is anticipated. On the first of Shawwal, the Islamic calendar month after Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr is observed, signaling the conclusion of the month-long fast. Depending on the crescent Moon sighting time, the Islamic Hijri months might last 29 or 30 days.
On Ramadan 29 (Saturday, March 29), the UAE’s moon-sighting committee will gather to look for the crescent in the sky. If spotted, the Eid break is from Sunday, March 30, to Tuesday, April 1, and the holy month ends at 29 days. That makes for a four-day getaway when added to the Saturday weekend that comes before the holiday.
If the moon is not visible on March 29, the holy month of Ramadan will last 30 days. In addition to the three days for Eid, the 30th of Ramadan has also been designated as a holiday this year. The break will be in effect from Sunday, March 30 (Ramadan 30), to Wednesday, April 2. That’s a five-day respite when you include the Saturday weekend before the holiday.
