Following Donald Trump’s statement on Tuesday that a truce with Iran was “on life support” due to Tehran’s rejection of a US proposal to stop the conflict and adherence to a list of demands the US president called “garbage,” hopes for a peace agreement with Iran waned. Trump said that Iran’s response threatened the status of a ceasefire that started on April 7. “I would call it the weakest right now, after reading that piece of garbage they sent us. I didn’t even finish reading it,” Trump told reporters. Iran has called for an end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, where US ally Israel is fighting Iran-backed Hezbollah militants. Tehran also emphasized its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, Tehran stressed its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and sought, among other things, an end to the US naval blockade and reimbursement for war damage.

Trump said that the status of a ceasefire that started on April 7 was in jeopardy due to Iran’s response. After reading the rubbish they supplied us, I would say it is now the weakest. Since then, it has emerged as a key area of contention. OPEC oil output fell further in April to the lowest level in more than 20 years due to disruption brought on by the strait’s near-closure, according to a Reuters survey on Monday.
