With strong historical ties, common interests, and significant projects that support trade, investment, and market connectivity, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India continue to fortify their expanding strategic and economic partnership, which serves as an effective model of cooperation within BRICS. For the second year in a row, bilateral trade between the two nations surpassed $100 billion, reaching US$101.25 billion in the 2025–2026 fiscal year. By 2032, the two nations hope to increase their bilateral commerce to $200 billion.

In addition to collaboration within the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), the UAE-India connection is growing through a number of strategic initiatives and projects, such as Bharat Mart and the Virtual Trade Corridor. In addition to strengthening supply chain integration, these measures are opening up new avenues for investment and commerce between the two nations and international markets. As the first deal of its sort signed by the UAE, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership deal (CEPA) between the UAE and India is very significant. Since it came into effect in 2022, it has expanded opportunities for the private sector in both nations and increased the flow of investment, products, and services.

The UAE has strengthened its commitment to economic and financial cooperation among BRICS nations at the global level by joining the New Development Bank and becoming a full member of BRICS since January 2024. With the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the 18th BRICS Summit began today, Saturday, September 12, in the Indian capital of New Delhi. The summit will run for two days, with India serving as the group’s president in a year that marks the 20th anniversary of BRICS.
