The world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380, has a distinctive livery with a giant UAE flag imprinted over its fuselage, which Emirates unveiled today. An extension of the airline’s recognizable tail design, the new A6-EVG livery is a potent homage to the spirit, aspirations, and solidarity of the United Arab Emirates. In response to the national initiative started by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, this project is a component of Emirates’ “This Flag Will Always Fly” campaign. This campaign urged all citizens and locals to fly the UAE flag as a symbol of social solidarity, a shared duty, and pride in the country’s resilience in the face of recent hardships.

“We’re proud to respond to HH Sheikh Mohammad’s call to raise the flag as a tribute to the UAE’s unity and strength,” stated Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airlines & Group. Every Emirates aircraft has proudly flown the UAE flag wherever it has flown since the company’s founding. This new livery is our way of paying tribute to a country that has given us so much and a country that serves as an example of what is achievable when we all decide to aim higher every day. The skies are the best stage for our flag, and flying it with pride is the greatest honor for Emirates.

The unique livery drapes elegantly around both sides of the aircraft and displays the colors of the United Arab Emirates in a striking, eye-catching 3D design. Runways, sky, and cities all across the world will be able to see the moving canvas of national pride, which has already flown to New York and Brisbane and is planned to go to further A380 destinations in the Emirates network. After the A380, an Emirates Boeing 777 will be the next largest commercial aircraft in the skies, and plans are in place to apply the flag design to one of these aircraft. Painted over the tails of one of the most recognizable fleets in the world, the UAE flag is already a distinguishing feature of every Emirates aircraft, bringing the country’s colors every day across countries, time zones, and cultures.
