His Royal Highness The UAE and Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support joint investment in artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the Malaysia Madani Artificial Intelligence (MMAI) initiative. The signing was witnessed by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, along with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The alliance seeks to improve national security, operational effectiveness, and community safety through the use of AI and advanced data analytics. According to the MoU, the UAE and Malaysia will keep working together to advance technical cooperation in a number of important areas, such as creating national security operations centres and high-performance computing data centres, developing AI-driven national security systems, increasing customs tax collection, and increasing operational efficiency.

The UAE’s Minister of Investment, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, and Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, formally signed the Investment Memorandum of Understanding.

Discussions about how to improve the UAE and Malaysia’s bilateral political and economic ties took place on the fringes of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. The most recent advancements in utilising cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence in a variety of fields, especially those that enhance living standards and quality of life, were also discussed.
