The Indian pilot, Captain Machchhar Smit, the crew of flydubai aircraft FZ1073, and the passengers who helped bring the situation under control were praised by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for their extraordinary bravery and quick response.

The Authority said that their prompt and immediate action, along with the sense of accountability that accompanied it, helped control the situation and avert more dire outcomes, demonstrating a degree of preparedness, collaboration, and shared accountability in the face of extraordinary situations. According to the GCAA, Captain Machchhar Smit has safely returned to the United Arab Emirates, is in good health, and is receiving the required medical care.

According to the GCAA, the Public Prosecution team is investigating the incident’s circumstances under the Attorney-General of the Union’s order. The competent authorities are following approved frameworks, safeguarding the investigation’s confidentiality and integrity, and collaborating with relevant regional and international authorities and organisations.

The Authority will not comment at this time on any information or assertions that may influence the investigation’s direction or preempt its conclusions. It advised people not to spread rumours and unconfirmed information and instead to rely on official sources.

The GCAA urged the public to seek information from its official sources and stated that the investigation’s conclusions and any associated developments will be made public through official channels after the required procedures have been finished.
