Iran’s demands to end the Middle East conflict were deemed “totally unacceptable” by US President Donald Trump, which raised the prospect of new hostilities and caused oil prices to spike in early Asian trade on Monday. In response to Washington’s most recent peace offering, Iran warned on Sunday that it will not refrain from retaliating against any further US strikes or allowing more foreign vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Although he did not provide specifics about the contents of Tehran’s counter-proposal, Trump made it apparent in a post on his Truth Social platform that he would reject it.

File/AP As investors anticipated more disruptions to supply through the strait, where Tehran has imposed a partial blockade, the benchmark US oil contract West Texas Intermediate (WTI) also increased by little more than 4 percent to $105.5 per barrel.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, insisted that the war would not finish until Iran’s nuclear facilities were destroyed. Netanyahu’s forces, along with those of the United States, began the attack on Iran on February 28.It’s not finished since Iran still needs to remove enriched uranium, a type of nuclear material. Netanyahu stated on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that “enrichment sites still need to be dismantled.” During diplomatic attempts to get the warring parties back to the negotiating table, Tehran has openly maintained a belligerent stance.Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on X on Sunday, “We will never submit to the enemy, and if there is talk of dialogue or negotiation, it does not mean surrender or retreat.” Tehran’s answer to the US plan, which was given to Pakistani mediators, focused on “ensuring shipping security” and “ending the war on all fronts, especially Lebanon,” where Israel has continued to combat Iran-backed Hezbollah, according to official television IRIB.
