Indian airlines will soon begin to police the cabin baggage rules strictly, and travel agencies in the United Arab Emirates have been advising their customers to abide by them. Indian media reported Wednesday that new rules enforced by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security restrict cabin baggage to one item and ensure that it does not exceed 7 pounds for local and international flights.

We’ve been informed that a circular has been issued on this, and airlines want to implement these rules as quickly as feasible,” said Safeer Mahamood, general manager of Smart Travels. “Passengers departing from the United Arab Emirates should be aware of this as it will be applicable to all Indian carriers’ domestic and international flights,” he added.

Although there hasn’t been any official communication in this area, according to another expert, he expects the regulations to be strictly enforced very soon. Praveen Chowdhary of Saffron Travels and Tourism said, “We have not received any notification from the airlines.” However, we have sent SMS to all our guests detailing the exact weight and dimensions of cabin baggage each airline allows. We have also been advising them to follow the guidelines strictly.
