
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Sunday that the Indian government will open two new consulates in the US, one in Boston and one in Los Angeles.
“I declared last year that a new Indian consulate will be opening in Seattle. I asked for your recommendations on two more consulates. PM Modi stated, “India has now decided to open two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles.”
PM Modi made this statement at an address to the Indian diaspora at the Nassau Coliseum in New York. The venue was filled with happy, eager faces and was buzzing with “Modi, Modi” shouts.
Returning the BJP-led Central government to power was one of the numerous themes that Prime Minister Modi focused on during his speech. “Ab ki Baar, Modi Sarkar” was yelled by the crowd during the PM’s speech on the topic.
Over 16,000 people have assembled at the Long Island to hear PM Modi’s speech at the community welcome, many of them overnight travellers from all over the US.
Long before the Prime Minister arrived at the crowded venue, a cultural presentation showcasing the variety of Indian culture got underway.
The Prime Minister expressed his excitement on Saturday, just after arriving in Philadelphia, about meeting Americans from all across the country and the Indian diaspora at the New York event.
