Khalifa University of Science and Technology recorded a significant improvement in its overall ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 on Monday, announcing its place among the top 200 universities worldwide across four Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. In 2025, the university moved up from 401-600 to the 301-400 worldwide band. This upward trajectory indicates that Khalifa University’s research, education, innovation, institutional practices, and strategic relationships are becoming increasingly recognized on a global scale.
Four SDGs showed particularly impressive results: SDG 8—Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 9—Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure; SDG 12—Responsible Consumption and Production; and SDG 17—Partnerships for the Goals—ranked in the 101–200 global band. Additionally, the university’s ranking for SDG 6—Clean Water and Sanitation—was in the 201–300 global bracket. SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities was in the 301-400 global range, whereas SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities saw an improvement from 401-600 in 2025 to 201-300 in 2026.
Health and education saw some of the biggest improvements. For SDG 3—Good Health and Well-Being—Khalifa University jumped from the 1001+ band to 401-600, and for SDG 4—Quality Education—it went from 1001+ to 601-800. This advancement reflects the concrete results of Khalifa University’s sustainability initiatives on a number of fronts, including research, campus operations, and international collaborations. These findings show how the university’s outstanding research is having quantifiable effects on the economy, environment, and society. These effects include industrial partnerships, innovation, responsible resource management, and inclusive community development.
