The National Programme to Strengthen Supply Chain Resilience in the United Arab Emirates has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative is anticipated to increase economic security, bolster the UAE’s long-term capacity for sustainability and adaptation, and promote the country’s global competitiveness. In the face of global problems, the initiative seeks to meet the UAE’s needs for industrial, medical, and food necessities. In order to guarantee the continuous supply of necessities, it takes an integrated approach that involves increasing international partnerships, boosting local industries and agriculture in collaboration with the private sector, and diversifying import sources.
By creating a comprehensive national system that ensures sustainable access to essential commodities and improves the nation’s preparedness for regional and global developments, it also fortifies the UAE’s proactive efforts to address threats facing global supply chains. The program’s main objectives are to identify the UAE’s most important products, evaluate their import risk exposure, identify strategic markets and supply sources, and form alliances to guarantee supply continuity.
Along with researching investment opportunities in critical industries that promote long-term supply chain sustainability and establishing global alliances with organizations capable of large-scale production and delivery, it also looks at ways to increase agricultural output and local manufacturing. The initiative also assesses the viability of growing or producing these items in the UAE, looks at several situations pertaining to these necessities and their suppliers, and increases investment potential with partner nations engaged in their production.
