According to its foreign ministry, Bangladesh has requested that India prevent Sheikh Hasina, the deposed former prime minister, from making “false and fabricated” remarks while she is in the nation. After almost 1,000 people were killed in violent protests in August, Hasina escaped to India.
She accused the interim administration in Bangladesh of taking power in violation of the constitution and urged her supporters to oppose it in an online speech on Wednesday. Hasina’s father, Mujibur Rahman, was the founding leader of Bangladesh, and his house was destroyed and burned down by thousands of protesters attempting to interrupt her speech. When Hasina finished speaking, the violence resumed.
In the spirit of respect and understanding, the ministry asked India to take prompt action to prevent her from uttering such fraudulent, false, and inflammatory remarks. India’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal denounced the destruction of Rahman’s house as an “act of vandalism,” notwithstanding the country’s silence on Bangladeshi communication.
The significance of this dwelling for Bangladesh’s national consciousness is recognised by everyone who cherishes the freedom fight that fostered Bangla identity and pride,” he said. Rahman announced Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan in 1971 in this same mansion, and he and the majority of his family were slain there in 1975.
