India-Clinch-Champions-Trophy-2025-With-Dominant-4-Wicket-Win-Over-New-Zealand

India defeated New Zealand in an exciting final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday to win the Champions Trophy for the third time. With 76 off 83 balls, captain Rohit Sharma got off to a scorching start as they chased a target of 252. The player of the match award was also given to the highest scorer.

Shubman Gill, Sharma’s opening partner, put up 31 off 50 before being dismissed at extra cover by Glenn Phillips’ spectacular catch. Despite Virat Kohli’s cheap fall, India won thanks to the vital cameos of Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and KL Rahul.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the Kiwis successfully repelled the Indian spinners’ attack, posting a valiant 251 for seven. New Zealand posted a challenging 251-7 thanks to 63 from Daryl Mitchell and an undefeated 53 from Michael Bracewell down the order.

Rachin Ravindra was named the 2025 Player of the ICC Champions Trophy after scoring 263 runs for the two-and-a-half-week competition. India’s four-pronged spin assault controlled the run rate, but the fielders failed to provide adequate assistance, dropping four catches.

India almost blew a good start, but KL Rahul helped them finish a successful chase with an undefeated 34 down the order. With this triumph, India has won the Champions Trophy three times, including in 2002 and 2013.
