In order to support efforts to combat the outbreak of a new Ebola virus strain in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Dubai Humanitarian has airlifted 20 metric tonnes of vital medical supplies from the World Health Organization’s (WHO) prepositioned stocks via Uganda, per the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.
The shipment, which left Al Maktoum International Dubai World Central (DWC), is anticipated to help about 280 medical facilities and hundreds of patients over the course of four weeks. Multipurpose tents, disinfectants, PPE, thermometers, and other vital medical items needed to bolster efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak and assist frontline medical personnel in impacted areas are among the cargo.
“As Ebola cases continue to spread, Dubai Humanitarian is supporting its members and the international humanitarian community in responding swiftly to this crisis by facilitating the transport of life-saving aid,” stated Giuseppe Saba, CEO and board member of the organization.
