The Civil Court in Dubai has ordered a vehicle renter to pay Dhs8,735 to a car rental company, which covers the cost of traffic fines and Salik toll gate costs, plus 5% legal interest from the date of the judicial claim until full payment.

The case began when a car rental company filed a lawsuit against a client, demanding that he pay amounts owed under a car rental agreement signed by the two parties in October 2025, as well as Dhs10,000 in compensation for material and moral damages incurred as a result of his failure to return the vehicle on the agreed-upon date.

The company explained that it had rented a vehicle to the appellee under a lease contract that had been extended several times, and that during the period of use, traffic fines totaling Dhs5,660 were incurred, in addition to Salik fees totaling Dhs350 and other amounts due under the contract, bringing the total claimed amount to Dhs8,735.

The company provided to the court a copy of the lease contract and its extensions, as well as traffic infraction and Salik fines, and stated that it was compelled to file a police report after the renter refused to return the vehicle. The court affirmed that the lease agreement requires the renter to pay the rent and any related obligations as agreed upon by the parties.
