
The UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) announced the creation of its new advisory board as part of its participation in the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival 2025. This move underscores the board’s ongoing commitment to empowering Emirati women and enhancing their involvement in the board’s projects and initiatives moving forward.
This strategic move also aims to further elevate the profile of children’s books in the Arab and global cultural landscapes by leveraging the diverse backgrounds of the new board members to expand the organization’s local and international collaborations.
An esteemed collection of Emirati women leaders, including children’s book illustrator and renowned artist Aysha Al Hamrani, who is well-known for her interactive narrative pieces, are part of the recently established advisory council; The Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s International School of Storytelling is directed by Israa Al Mulla, who is well-known for her vast experience creating storytelling programs; The Kalimat Foundation’s director, Amna Al Mazmi, is famous for her significant contributions to expanding children’s access to education; Fatma AlKhatib, the creator of Sidra Publishing House, is renowned for her commitment to producing excellent educational materials.
