According to Bloomberg News on Tuesday, the Trump administration is considering a deal that would permit the UAE to import over a million cutting-edge Nvidia processors, an amount that far surpasses restrictions under Biden-era AI chip laws.

According to the article, which cited people familiar with the situation, the agreement, which is still being discussed and may be altered, would allow the UAE to buy 500,000 of the most cutting-edge chips available from 2027 until 2027.

One of those businesses may be OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, which might this week announce expanded data centre capacity in the United Arab Emirates, according to the article. The study was released shortly after US President Donald Trump convinced Saudi Arabia to contribute $600 billion to US investments.

Trump will go to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. On Monday, the New York Times also revealed that the Trump administration is getting close to an agreement that would let the UAE to purchase significant amounts of Nvidia’s AI technology.

Throughout the agreement, G42 might buy processing power equal to one to one and a half million H100 processors, according to the Bloomberg article. According to the report, that is around four times as much as it could have purchased under the AI diffusion framework, which was implemented under the Biden administration to regulate chip exports.
