After a month-long application period from July 7 to August 6, 2026, the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority has ended registration for Prince of Poets Season 12. More than 1,500 contributions from male and female poets from 38 different countries were received this season. A wide range of poetic experiences from other cultures are reflected in the widespread and varied involvement in the new season, which brings together various viewpoints and styles. This diversity adds to the energy and diversity of the Arab poetry scene while providing chances to find fresh talent and innovative methods.

Now that registration is closed, the Prince of Poets competition moves into its second phase, where a longlist of 150 poets will be chosen by the judging panel once the submissions have been assessed. The competition will move from written entries to live performances when the chosen poets are welcomed in Abu Dhabi to meet the judging panel and deliver their poetry in front of its members.

The initiative demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s dedication to protecting Arab cultural legacy, promoting intercultural understanding, and bolstering its position as a hub for creativity and culture. Poetry is an essential expression of Arab identity, and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority is dedicated to preserving the Arabic language. The Authority strives to protect literary legacy, promote innovation, and inspire future generations to interact with the rich tradition of Arabic poetry thru programs like Prince of Poets.
