A specialized workshop on Government Finance Statistics (GFS) and Public Sector Debt Statistics (PSDS) was held in Dubai by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in association with a technical mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In addition to supporting the UAE’s efforts to improve its financial statistics system, improve data quality, and encourage greater integration across important macroeconomic statistics, this collaborative effort seeks to strengthen institutional and technical capacities in gathering and distributing government financial data in accordance with international standards.
The Ministry of Finance’s Assistant Under-Secretary for Government Budget and Revenue Sector, Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, confirmed that the workshop’s planning demonstrates the Ministry’s dedication to developing the government financial data ecosystem and improving its capacity to deliver accurate and trustworthy data that supports financial planning and well-informed decision-making.
According to Al Yateem, “government finance statistics and public sector debt statistics serve as twin pillars for strengthening fiscal transparency, improving the efficiency of government reporting, and offering a holistic view of public sector financial performance.” “Investing in these areas is essential to fostering fiscal sustainability and strengthening the nation’s capacity to effectively and resiliently navigate changing economic dynamics.
