The Cannes Film Festival will begin next week, and organizers revealed on Monday that American actor Demi Moore, who is still high from the late-career boost of her Oscar-nominated performance in “The Substance,” will join the jury.

One of the most significant annual film festivals in the world, the film extravaganza on the French Riviera awards numerous prizes, including the coveted Palme d’Or for best film, which is chosen by a nine-person jury. In addition to Ivorian-American actor Isaach de Bankole, who will appear in the upcoming third installment of the “Dune” franchise, Moore, 63, and Chinese director Chloe Zhao, whose films from “Nomadland” to “Hamnet” have become awards-season favorites, will add some A-list sparkle to the jury.

Park Chan-Wook (“Oldboy”), an arthouse South Korean director, will lead the jury, as previously announced. Irish-Ethiopian actress Ruth Negga, Belgian filmmaker Laura Wandel, Chilean director Diego Cespedes, Irish author Paul Laverty, and Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard are the other members of the jury.
