Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the 19th GCC Consultative Summit on Tuesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit examined developments in the region as well as the grave consequences of Iranian missile strikes that targeted civilian infrastructure, facilities, and people in several friendly Gulf and Arab nations, as well as their effects on regional security, stability, and peace.
The meeting’s participating Their Majesties and Highnesses vehemently denounced and condemned the Iranian strikes, characterizing them as a flagrant transgression of both international law and the United Nations Charter as well as a violation of national sovereignty. Additionally, they upheld each targeted nation’s right to react to these attacks in a way that protects their territorial integrity, national security, sovereignty, and the safety of their inhabitants, residents, and tourists.
Sheikh Abdullah thanked the leaders in attendance for their support of the United Arab Emirates in the wake of the terrorist attack by Iran. In order to handle regional issues and combat all kinds of extremism and terrorism in a way that protects the security and stability of GCC members and their citizens, he emphasized that the current period calls for the greatest levels of coordination and integration. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that any danger to the sovereignty of any member state directly jeopardizes the security of the Gulf system as a whole. He reiterated the UAE’s complete solidarity with the brotherly GCC nations and its support for any actions they take to maintain their security and stability, guarantee the protection of their inhabitants and communities, and safeguard national accomplishments.
