According to authorities and broadcaster CNN-News18, a hotel fire in New Delhi on Wednesday claimed the lives of at least 21 people, including 18 foreign visitors. This was one of the biggest disasters to occur in the nation’s capital since 2022. According to the broadcaster, the deceased included individuals from Mozambique, Liberia, Nigeria, and Bangladesh. Reuters was unable to verify the victims’ nationalities immediately. Witnesses reported that residents of Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, were dragging mattresses from a nearby store to break their fall as several others leaped out of the blazing building to escape the flames.
