Alia Bint Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, presided over the second meeting of the UAE Council for Entrepreneurship this year. Council members from various councils and funds that support entrepreneurship nationwide, as well as representatives from economic development departments and federal and municipal government agencies, participated.

The gathering is part of ongoing initiatives to support the objectives of the “We the UAE 2031” vision by strengthening the country’s entrepreneurial environment and its enablers. The Council reviewed the proposals from its first meeting and the status of their implementation. In order to further streamline efforts to assist the nation’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, it also examined the Federal Law No. 2 of 2014 on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the creation of a uniform database for entrepreneurs, and the cooperation of local organisations.

“By encouraging integration among relevant entities and advancing national programs and initiatives that enhance the competitiveness of the business environment, the Council continues to develop effective frameworks and future strategies to support and empower entrepreneurs,” Alia Al Mazrouei said.

In order to improve entrepreneurs’ preparedness for the future, support the expansion of startups, and open up new avenues for collaboration and investment, these initiatives also aim to broaden the nation’s entrepreneurial base.

This is essential to the country’s goal of creating a competitive, knowledge-based economy that is driven by innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as increasing the share of SMEs in the GDP.
