A pickup truck driver killed ten people when he crashed into a crowd of New Orleans revelers on Bourbon Street early on New Year’s Day; the FBI is investigating this as a potential act of terrorism. When the truck stopped, the driver reportedly stepped out and began shooting at the responding officers, according to New Orleans police. The FBI does not believe the Texas man who killed at least ten people in a suspected terror attack in New Orleans acted alone.
Alethea Duncan, an associate special agent in charge of the FBI’s New Orleans field office, told reporters at a news conference that agents are actively searching for the person, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, and any possible connection.
The FBI has established that Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, 42, is the driver responsible for the ten fatalities and several injuries in New Orleans. According to the FBI, investigators are looking into a Daesh flag that was found in the car and are trying to learn more about Jabbar’s past.

The attacker, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42, is a US citizen from Texas, and the FBI says it is still looking into him to find “potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organizations.
