The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), a division of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, will host the 35th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair from September 13–18, 2026, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), under the patronage of President His Highness Sheik Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The “Turn the Page, Read the World” theme of the fair will unite prominent figures from the publishing industry as well as the cultural and creative sectors, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s visibility on the international cultural map.
The program will bring together exhibitors from 95 countries as well as eminent writers, thinkers, and educators from all over the world. It will include almost 1,500 activities that are in line with the UAE’s Year of Family ambitions. When taken as a whole, these components show how culture is becoming more and more important in fostering lifelong learning, bolstering ties within families and communities, and influencing the next generation. The three primary themes of this year’s program are the arts and live cultural experiences, innovation and the development of the future, and global culture and civilizational dialogue.
The scholar Al Khalil ibn Ahmad Al Farahidi will be honoured as the fair’s Focus Personality, while Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote will be recognized as the Book of the World. The Balkans will be honoured as the Guest of Honour. These choices represent the fair’s homage to the individuals and creations that have influenced human awareness, deepened understanding, and fostered intercultural communication throughout history.
“For 35 years, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair has helped shape a vibrant cultural ecosystem where ideas are exchanged, creativity is nurtured, and literature enriches everyday life,” stated Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi. It has developed into one of the most important venues for cross-cultural interaction in the area, bolstering Abu Dhabi’s standing as a hub for innovation, culture, and knowledge while fostering the expansion of the international publishing and creative industries.
