The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has launched the ‘100,000 Seedlings’ program, which aims to distribute seedlings in public schools across the UAE.
The campaign aims to raise student knowledge about the importance of agriculture, planting, and greening activities, which aligns with the goals of the National Agriculture Centre’s ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme. The project demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to improving sustainable agriculture methods and fostering community involvement in agricultural production and national food security.
The event was held at Mohammed Bin Khalid School in Al Ain, in the presence of Dr. Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
She stated that the ‘Plant the Emirates’ National Programme and the initiatives managed by the National Agriculture Centre have gained great traction in promoting sustainable farming practices and encouraging community participation in greening efforts throughout the UAE. This is the continuance of the success made with the planting of 100,000 palm seedlings in public schools. Beyond their function in education and training, schools serve as critical platforms for developing generations that appreciate the value of agriculture and planting in changing our environment, life, and future.
