The 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which is sponsored by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, formally started at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) on Saturday. The event is scheduled to conclude on May 5, 2025.
This year’s exhibition, which is organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), a division of the Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi, has 1,400 exhibitors from 96 different countries and is themed “Knowledge Illuminates Our Community.
The fair caters to readers, thinkers, publishers, and content producers with its extensive schedule of nearly 2,000 events and activities. It continues to serve as a global forum for cross-cultural communication, thereby enhancing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a major hub of innovation and knowledge.
The occasion embodies the UAE’s strategic goals of fostering intercultural communication, assisting the publishing sector, and investing in culture. As the book fair commemorates 1,000 years since the publication of Ibn Sina’s foundational work “The Canon of Medicine,” a text that had a significant impact on the development of medical science worldwide, it will include panel discussions and interactive exhibits showcasing his legacy, ideas, accomplishments, and influence on human civilisation.
