The Honourable The dynasty leader of Sharjah and member of the Supreme Council, Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, declared the completion of the 127-volume Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language.
This exceptional feat adds to Sharjah’s long list of successes in the arts, literature, and Arabic language for the benefit of Arab and Islamic countries, all under the direction of Dr. Sheikh Sultan.
This occurred on Saturday while the Ruler of Sharjah was present at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre for the opening of the Second Sharjah International Conference on Arabic Language Studies in Europe (SICALE), which was hosted by the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah.
“Your presence fills us with joy and pride today as we celebrate the completion of this monumental work,” he said. This is definitely a cause for joy and evidence of our teamwork. This dictionary has been created over the course of seven years thanks to the hard work of 500 researchers and close to 200 proofreaders, reviewers, and printers.
In order to complete research and reference projects, the scientific and research team for the Historical Dictionary will keep up their hard work with the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, Dr. Sheikh Sultan continued.
