His Majesty The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the American University of Sharjah (AUS) and the American University in Cairo (AUC) was signed on Thursday, and Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council, was present.
Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS, Mark Turnage, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AUC, and several senior executives from both organisations welcomed Sheikh Sultan to the university campus. Dr. Ahmed Dallal, President of AUC, and Dr. Tod A. Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, formally signed the pact.
This agreement lays the groundwork for cooperation on a range of strategic and academic undertakings, such as coordinated research grant submissions, faculty and student exchanges, and cooperative research projects. It also seeks to facilitate the joint supervision of graduate students’ theses.
The MoU also details intentions to improve curriculum creation and teaching approaches, host international workshops, conferences, and seminars, and create dual degree programs and short-term academic offers.
In addition to offering training and consulting services, both institutions will exchange institutional data for strategic benchmarking and grant each other access to library resources while adhering to copyright regulations.
