Over 200 employees of the four previous Republican presidential contenders, who warned that the idea of a second term for GOP nominee Donald Trump is “simply untenable” and “will hurt real, everyday people,” have endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president.

238 former employees of Presidents George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Arizona Sen. John McCain, and Utah Sen. Mitt Romney have written an open letter that was first published by USA Today on Monday. In it, they urge other “moderate Republicans and conservative independents” to support Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, over Trump and his vice presidential nominee, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio.

Signatories include Olivia Troye, a former George W. Bush staffer and homeland security advisor to Trump’s vice president, Mike Pence, and Reed Galen, a former McCain campaign staffer who co-founded the anti-Trump group The Lincoln Project. The jobs that are represented span from intern to chief of staff.

“An additional four years under Donald Trump’s chaotic leadership, with a renewed emphasis on Project 2025’s dangerous objectives, will harm actual, everyday individuals and undermine our esteemed institutions,” the signatories caution. The letter continues by stating that “as Trump and his acolyte JD Vance kowtow to dictators like Vladimir Putin while turning their backs on our allies, broad, democratic movements will be irreversibly jeopardised.
