According to experts, governments and the private sector must move faster to switch to renewable Profitsenergy sources in order to achieve Net Zero emissions, or reducing carbon emissions to a level that can be absorbed by nature.
Sustainability and environmental experts stated that private companies should integrate climate change solutions into their core business strategies rather than focussing on their profit margins during their presentation at Khaleej Times’ The Journey to Net Zero Forum on Tuesday.
Sal Jafar, CEO of ESG Mena, stated that we must quicken the switch to clean and renewable energy. Sadly, he said, green projects are not given priority because they are not thought to be profitable in the short- and medium-term.
According to experts like Jaffar, the effects of climate change, such as rising seas, acidification and warming of the oceans, torrential rains that flood cities and villages, and extreme heat that starts wildfires, can be lessened if governments and private businesses move more quickly to switch to renewable energy sources.
