Reem-Al-Hashimy-8

One of Italy’s highest honors, the Marisa Bellisario Award, has been given to Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation. This award honors exceptional female leaders who have shown remarkable success in the fields of diplomacy, government, business, science, innovation, culture, and humanitarian work. Antonio Tajani, the Italian Republic’s deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation, gave the prize to Reem Al Hashimy at the 38th Marisa Bellisario prize ceremony in Rome. Al Hashimy is now part of a remarkable group of globally significant leaders whose initiatives have revolutionized their nations and the global community.

The Marisa Bellisario Award, one of Europe’s most prestigious honors for women in leadership, also reflects the UAE’s growing international recognition as a model for empowering women in leadership and decision-making, as well as the nation’s larger commitment to promoting communication, collaboration, and inclusive and sustainable development on the international scene. Prior to the event, Reem Al Hashimy went to a reception honoring the 2026 prize winners, which was organized by Italian Republic President Sergio Mattarella. The Marisa Bellisario Award’s high stature in Italy’s institutional, political, and public domains as well as the honor it bestows upon individuals who have had a good influence both domestically and globally were reflected in the reception.

Following President Sergio Mattarella’s State Visit to the UAE in January 2026, which was a major turning point in the two nations’ strategic cooperation, the recognition also coincides with a period of increasing momentum in UAE-Italy ties. Distinguished record: Al Hashimy’s lasting services to diplomacy, international collaboration, and the development of global partnerships—including her role in fortifying ties between the Italian Republic and the United Arab Emirates—are reflected in the accolade. Reem Al Hashimy has been instrumental in bolstering the UAE’s international participation throughout her career.
