Through a recent visit to the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) in Berlin, the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub (SSAH) reinforced its international partnerships, highlighting the emirate’s expanding importance in worldwide scientific collaboration. Participating in the official visit to AGYA’s headquarters at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in the German capital was Noura Abbas Al Amiri, head of the High-Energy Astrophysics Laboratory at the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub and regional liaison coordinator for the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities in the UAE and the Gulf.

Participation in an advisory board meeting and many coordination meetings with the academy’s staff were part of the visit. Participants in these talks examined how the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Sharjah have supported the academy’s regional scientific endeavors and activities, and they looked at methods to increase collaboration in both scientific and cultural domains. The meetings also discussed a number of upcoming projects and programs that will unite AGYA, SSAH, and the University of Sharjah in order to increase opportunities for scientific and cultural research between the two organizations, expand international cooperation, and exchange expertise.

The visit is a part of broader initiatives to strengthen global scientific collaboration and establish active alliances with top research and academic institutions worldwide. It also shows a dedication to broadening the scope of community involvement, education, and research while bolstering Sharjah’s and the UAE’s participation in global scientific endeavors. With funding from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research, AGYA was established in 2013 as an independent scientific platform. It functions under the auspices of the German National Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina, and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. By supporting collaborative research projects, fostering scientific and cultural dialogue, and creating programs that assist in addressing common social and developmental issues, the academy aims to create bridges of cooperation between exceptional young researchers from Arab nations and Germany.
