Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey, and Jamie Foxx are among the big names that will be joining the BET Awards to commemorate its 25th anniversary on Monday. With ten nominations, Lamar is in the lead, including album of the year for his highly regarded record “GNX.” He was nominated for both Video of the year and Viewer’s choice for his popular diss single “Not Like Us,” which sprang from the Drake dispute.

The awards will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. Eastern on June 9. The Grammy victory of the rap megastar, who won song and record of the year for “Not Like Us,” caused a stir.

He became the first hip-hop artist to play solo and take centre stage with a historic halftime spectacle. He and SZA are presently touring the Grand National Tour.

Kirk Franklin, Snoop Dogg, Carey, and Foxx will all get the Ultimate Icon Award. They were chosen for their activism and influence on the community in addition to their influence on entertainment. With six nominations, Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla shared second place. SZA received four nods, The Weeknd received four, and Metro Boomin received five.

The BET Awards stage will be visited by rap legend Lil Wayne, GloRilla, and singer Teyana Taylor. Singer Leon Thomas and rapper Playboi Carti are also on the roster. As presenter, Kevin Hart should provide some humour.
