Syria’s new leader is eager to establish relations with Moscow, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani informed Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday. Sheikh Tamim’s guarantee comes as Putin tries to keep Russia’s two military sites in Syria operational and prevent a significant blow to its strategic power in the area following the overthrow of its ally Bashar Al Assad in December.
