Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, attended the Mercosur Summit, which was held in Asunción, the capital of the Republic of Paraguay, on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit brought together the leaders and heads of government of the bloc’s member states and partners. He pointed out that in 2025, non-oil commerce between the United Arab Emirates and the Mercosur nations amounted to US$6.2 billion, with investments and cooperative projects providing real economic benefits to the bloc’s member nations.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s congratulations and best wishes for ongoing success and prosperity for the nations and peoples of the bloc were communicated to the leaders of the Mercosur countries by Al Zeyoudi, who delivered the UAE’s address to the summit. He reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to enhancing collaboration with the Mercosur nations and solidifying a strategic alliance that the UAE sees as a key component of the bloc’s shared economic future.

Al Zeyoudi stated in his speech that the world is experiencing swift geopolitical changes that are reshaping the world economy, offering the UAE and the Mercosur nations a chance to establish a sustainable and balanced economic alliance based on shared goals and interests. Stressing that trade continues to be the main driver of growth, innovation, and economic diversification, he emphasized the significance of allocating strategic investment toward contemporary technologies, emerging industries, and new energy sources in addition to investments in skills and knowledge as the foundation for sustainable economic growth. The UAE reiterates its commitment to reaching a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the bloc as a strategic framework that enables both parties to realize the full potential of their economic partnership, Al Zeyoudi continued.
