The first stage of the agreement between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) to build a significant charging point hub that is only accessible by DTC’s fleet of electric taxis has begun. The hub, which is situated at DTC’s headquarters in Muhaisnah 4 and has 24 next-generation ultrafast charge stations of 360 KW each, was officially opened by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, and Abdul Muhsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Chairman of the DTC Group’s Board of Directors. In order to reduce downtime and enable more effective, zero-emission operations throughout the emirate, an ultrafast EV charging hub is currently operating and can charge 24 vehicles at once in around 35 minutes.
We continue to build a cutting-edge electric vehicle charging infrastructure that offers a smooth and dependable charging experience, lowers carbon emissions, and enhances air quality in accordance with the goals of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. This bolsters Dubai’s standing as a global leader in sustainability and innovation and encourages the swift expansion of electric car usage throughout the emirate, according to Al Tayer.
“This collaboration is in line with our initiatives to facilitate the shift to eco-friendly transportation and improve cooperation between the energy and sustainable transportation sectors. We value Dubai Taxi’s dedication to growing its fleet of electric cars, which helps lower the carbon footprint of the transportation industry. Al Tayer continued, “Together, we continue to support the development of cutting-edge charging infrastructure in accordance with the highest international standards, fostering the growth of green mobility and strengthening Dubai’s leadership in sustainability and innovation.”
