Actress Sydney Sweeney, who has played Cassie Howard on the drama since “Euphoria” premiered in 2019, is now clearing the air on the show’s lengthy delay. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress addressed rumors that cast scheduling or behind-the-scenes strife contributed to the season gap, according to people.com. “Well, I mean, we all grew up together on this show, so it’s honestly crazy to watch how much social media and the press spin things,” Sweeney added.
The actress’ comments follow years of conjecture about what caused the delay between Euphoria’s second and third seasons. Season 3 production was supposed to begin in 2024, but it was put back due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, as well as reported script development delays.
The actress found it hilarious to see people assume that cast schedules were to blame for the show’s delays. “I was in first place with HBO,” she explained. So the moment they say, ‘Hey, this is the first day of filming,’ I am legally unable to do anything else. So the show is unaffected by my schedule.” Sweeney also stated that the same was true for the rest of the cast.
