Viral-Energy-Drink-Videos

The Cybercrime Department of Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigations has urged people not to follow circulating videos on social media that advocate drinking huge amounts of energy drinks, particularly for children, due to the potential health dangers they can provide.

Dubai Police confirmed that some digital content seeks to attract views and interaction without regard for the potentially harmful health and behavioral consequences, urging parents to monitor the content their children consume and to raise their children’s awareness not to blindly imitate everything published on social media.

Dubai Police further stated that excessive intake of energy drinks can lead to major consequences such as “heart rhythm disorders,” “convulsions and loss of consciousness,” as well as “the possibility of sudden cardiac arrest.”

The police also stated that youngsters may suffer health consequences such as poisoning, gastrointestinal illnesses, increased anxiety, stress, and agitation, affects on concentration, memory, and sleep, and an accelerated heart rate and elevated blood pressure.

Dubai Police urged the public to obtain health information from reliable sources and to report any digital content that encourages dangerous behaviours or endangers community members’ safety, emphasizing the importance of reporting violations and cybercrimes via the Dubai Police smart app, the “Ecrime” platform for receiving cybercrime reports, or by dialing 901.
