For their own and their companions’ safety, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has issued important travel recommendations and guidelines. They were urged to make sure their passports were valid for at least six months, to meet all visa requirements and health conditions prior to a trip, to make sure international health insurance was available for the duration of the trip, and to register for the Twajudi service with all members of their family.

Additionally, it advised Emiratis living overseas to keep an emergency number (+97180024), which is open 24/7, pay attention to any alerts given by the local authorities, keep electronic copies of all supporting documentation, and arrange their trip with reputable international travel agencies and rental car companies.

MOFA advised Emiratis to check the road and weather conditions both before and during their trip, to follow local traffic laws and regulations in the country of destination, to drive carefully when traveling outside the country, and to take the air whenever possible because it is more comfortable and safe.

In order to facilitate Emiratis’ return to the country in emergency situations, such as when their regular passport is lost, damaged, or expires, the return document is electronically issued to them within 30 minutes of a request being made while they are traveling through the nation’s representative missions overseas. Of these, 366 requests for a return document were made for Emirati newborns who were born abroad.
