During the two days of fog, the General Department of Operations at Dubai Police’s Command and Control Center handled 8,263 calls through the emergency hotline 999. People saw the fog on Monday and Tuesday, between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. on both days.
Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Ali, who is in charge of the Command and Control Center, underlined how important it is for drivers to be careful when the weather changes, such as when there is fog. He told them to follow all safety rules, listen to advice and instructions from all the right people in the country, and make sure that cars stay a safe distance apart.
He said that thick fog makes it hard to see horizontally on roadways, which could cause collisions with several cars and result in both human and material losses. If drivers listen to and follow the advice and instructions given by the authorities in the country, these kinds of things can be avoided.
Al Ali underlined the need for safe driving in foggy weather and told drivers to slow down, avoid sudden stops, use fog lights, stay below the speed limit, and make sure their windshield wipers are working.
