Two people were ordered by the Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court to pay Dhs179,000 to another person in addition to a Dhs6,000 fine for not paying back the money they had borrowed from him, even though they had signed agreements to that effect. In a previous action, the plaintiff asked the court to compel the defendants to pay him Dhs179,000, which was the sum left over after subtracting the Dhs13,000 that they had already paid in part.

In addition, he asked that they be required to reimburse him Dhs 10,000 for the psychological, moral, and financial damages he had suffered as a result of their tardy payment and their dishonesty in writing checks on a closed account.

Furthermore, he asked the court to require the defendants to pay legal interest at a rate of 12% per year from the moment the lawsuit was filed until the entire sum is paid with quick enforcement and no bail.

The plaintiff contended that one of the defendants wrote two checks for Dhs 50,000 each after borrowing Dhs 100,000 under a loan agreement. The plaintiff further stated that the two defendants jointly borrowed Dhs 92,000 under a second loan arrangement they signed.
