According to a tourist director on Monday, a French mountaineer and a South Korean mountaineer perished while on expeditions to Nepal’s Mount Ama Dablam, a stunning but challenging peak to ascend.
Last week, 65-year-old French climber Hugo Lucio Colonia Lazaro became ill while descending the 6,812-meter (22,349-foot) summit. He died the following day after being transported by helicopter to Kathmandu on Wednesday, Tourism Department Director Himal Gautam told AFP. The government could not provide a cause of death for South Korean climber Hong Khy Park, 66, who passed away on Saturday while climbing Mount Ama Dablam between Camps 1 and 2.
To return their deceased corpses to their home nations, our department has been liaising with relevant agencies,” Gautam stated. Ama Dablam is a technically difficult mountain with steep slopes that is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal.
In this autumn season, which typically lasts from late August to November, there were about 400 climbers on the peak. Nepal, which is home to eight of the ten highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest, receives hundreds of climbers each year.
