
Today marked the opening of the 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2025), where leading companies displayed their most recent successes and massive projects, such as the Business Bay district cooling project, which holds two Guinness World Records and is regarded as the largest of its kind in the world. The chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, stopped by the Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower) booth during his tour of the show. Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation is the biggest provider of district cooling services worldwide.
He received an update on Empower’s most recent accomplishments and large-scale initiatives, including the Business Bay district cooling project, which holds two Guinness World Records and is regarded as the largest of its kind worldwide.
The founder and chairman of WETEX, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), accompanied Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The CEO of Empower, Ahmad Bin Shafar, provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s key initiatives and notable achievements in the global district cooling market during the visit. He also gave a briefing on Empower’s Business Bay project, which has allowed the company to set two Guinness World Records: the Largest Cooling Plant Coverage (Number of Buildings) and the Highest Capacity District Cooling Plant (DCS), which currently serves 201 multi-use buildings that include residential, commercial, hospitality, and other facilities. The DCS has a total connected capacity of 276,545 refrigeration tons.
