December is the “Month of Overseas Filipinos,” and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. honored a Dubai Police official and twelve other Filipinos living abroad on Wednesday with the “Presidential Awards 2024,” one of the highest honors bestowed by the president of the Republic of the Philippines.
A Facebook post from the Philippine Consulate General-Dubai informed Gulf Today that Major Bader Ahmed J. Al Zafeen, deputy director of the Dubai Police-Criminal Investigation Division, was one of two recipients of the “Kaanib ng Bayan (Ally/Comrade of the Country) Award” Category.
The “Kaanib ng Bayan Award” is “granted only for foreign individuals (natural-born) or foreign organizations for their significant contributions to Philippine development or a particular sector/local community in the country and for advancing the cause of the Filipino diaspora/overseas Filipino community,” according to the website of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), which has been in charge of the search for the biennial prestigious global awards since 1991 and is under the Office of the President.
