The national sadness over Pope Francis’s death caused the Delhi government to postpone the introduction of 330 electric buses on Tuesday. According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, an updated start date for the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVI) program would be revealed shortly.
“The introduction of electric buses under the DEVI scheme has been delayed due to the national mourning proclaimed by the Government of India on the death of His Holiness Pope Francis,” CM Gupta wrote in a message posted on the social media platform X. The updated date will be revealed shortly.
“With the launch of 330 new electric buses under the #DEVI initiative, we are taking a transformative step towards a greener future on this #EarthDay,” CM Rekha said on social media before to opting to postpone the launch. The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka expresses sorrow.
Saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, the first Jesuit and Latin American Pope, whose leadership was defined by humility, compassion, and a deep commitment to the marginalised,” said D.K. Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka. With uncommon bravery, he revolutionised spiritual leadership by accepting the outcast and pursuing the path of genuine service. My sympathies and condolences are with everyone who is grieving his passing worldwide.
