A tiny but recognizable council in Sharjah, which is situated in one of the emirate’s oldest neighborhoods, has come to represent tradition, community, and the area’s rich past.

This Majlis, which was founded about 25 years ago, provides a space for introspection, conversation, and friendship by bringing together pensioners, store owners, and tourists from all walks of life.

Since there were significantly fewer customers than there are now, this practice changed throughout time, with market vendors congregating while employees ran the stores.

When market store owners erected a modest, aluminum building as a space for tea and chat, the metamorphosis of this meeting place started. ‘Musa’s Coffee’ was a humble building that gave rise to a custom that continues to this day.

One of the original houses in the area was restored as a result of the Sharjah government’s recognition of the value of maintaining this gathering place during the renovations.
