Emirates announced in a statement that using any type of power bank on aircraft would be banned as of October 1, 2025. With the exception of the following restrictions, Emirates customers are still allowed to bring one power bank on board. However, they are not allowed to use the power banks to charge gadgets within the aircraft cabin or to charge themselves using the aircraft’s power supply.

The new rules for Emirates include:

Customers of Emirates are permitted to bring one power bank with less than 100 watt-hours.

No personal gadgets on board may be charged using power banks.

It is not allowed to use the aircraft’s electrical source to charge a power bank.

Information on the capacity rating of every power bank that is approved for transportation must be accessible.

Power banks must now be kept in the seat pocket or a bag beneath the seat in front of you rather than in the overhead stowage bin on aeroplanes.

According to an existing regulation, power banks are not allowed in checked baggage.

Following a thorough safety study, Dubai’s flagship airline is proactively and firmly reducing the danger associated with onboard power banks. Customers’ use of power banks has increased significantly in recent years, which has led to a rise in accidents involving lithium batteries aboard aeroplanes throughout the aviation sector.
