On Friday, May 30, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will successfully resume direct flights from Dubai to Skardu, the nation’s snow-capped highlands and popular tourist destination. On August 14, 2023, the first aircraft with 80 passengers landed from Dubai at Skardu Airport, marking the beginning of PIA’s international flight operations.
Consul General Hussain Muhammad attended a cake-cutting ceremony at the PIA office in Dubai to commemorate the event. In keeping with the increased interest in Pakistan’s picturesque northern regions, the ceremony also welcomed members of a foreign tourist group flying on the first flight.
PIA Regional Manager Sarmad Aizaz and his staff organised the event to celebrate this important step towards increasing tourism and building people-to-people connections between the UAE and Pakistan.
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, had earlier welcomed locals to experience the unparalleled natural splendour of the Northern Areas while taking advantage of the chance to go directly to one of the most picturesque places on earth.
Ambassador Tirmizi noted that Skardu is home to stunning lakes, valleys, and breathtaking scenery. Lakes, waterfalls, and springs may be found in the city of wonders, which is 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level.
